This is Us

Mountain View Engineering was founded in 1993 by James Moore in order to fill a local need for structural engineering consultation and custom metal building design. The firm has expanded over the years to incorporate a variety of engineering services and has, over the course of thousands of projects, become an experienced leader in several aspects of structural engineering and design. In 2020 Brad Wallace and Jed Larsen purchased the company with the goal of keeping the excellence alive. Here at Mountain View Engineering we have a professional staff of individuals who are dedicated and passionate about what they do. Our staff possesses over a half century of structural engineering experience. We believe that a quality structural design can also be economical and we will work hard to ensure that you get maximum value. We also provide timely service and strive to exceed the goals and deadlines of our clients in the preparation of our designs and specifications.

Metal Building Foundation Design

Welcome to Mountain View Engineering, where excellence meets innovation in the field of foundation design for pre-engineered metal buildings. With a commitment to precision engineering, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled expertise, we take pride in delivering robust and reliable foundation solutions tailored to meet the unique requirements of each project. Experience matters and with years of experience in foundation design, we bring a wealth of knowledge to every project. Our commitment to client satisfaction is reflected in our collaborative approach, transparent communication, and adherence to project timelines.

We understand the importance of cost-effectiveness in project planning. Our team is dedicated to providing innovative foundation solutions that not only meet high engineering standards but also optimize costs without compromising on quality.

We are familiar with a wide variety of metal building manufacturers, such as American, B&C Steel, Behlen, CBC, Chief, Cover-All, HCI, Metallic, Nucor, Pacific Building Systems, R&M Steel, Web Steel, Varco Pruden, and others.

We specialize in understanding the dynamic needs of the metal building industry and providing comprehensive foundation solutions that ensure structural integrity and long-term stability. We can also provide the design of frost-protected shallow foundations or earth retaining structures (including salt/sand storages) as required to suit your needs.

The following are some common types of foundations that we design:

Conventional Grade Beam and Footing

The conventional approach of using grade beam and footing represents the predominant method for establishing foundations, particularly in situations necessitating frost protection depths exceeding 18 inches. The installation of rebar cages and piers at designated column positions is typically required. For wall heights up to 3 feet, the inclusion of footings beneath the grade beam can be omitted, with spot footings at each column serving as the primary support.

Monolithic Slab, Wall, and Footing

A monolithic foundation design represents the metal building foundation system requiring the least labor intensity. However, its application is typically avoided in areas where the frost depth exceeds 30 inches below grade. The construction process involves pouring the spot footings initially, followed by the monolithic pouring of the slab and thickened edge.

Frost Protected Shallow Foundations

In regions where substantial frost depths significantly escalate foundation expenses, we provide a specialized foundation system integrating rigid polystyrene insulation. This system effectively insulates your foundation against frost heave, thereby reducing depth requirements to 24 inches or less.

Earth Retaining Walls

Mountain View Engineering can effectively address a range of retaining wall needs, whether they involve accommodating loading docks within your building, storing bulk commodities, or managing sloped building sites.
